A refined blend of heritage charm and contemporary stonework in a prestigious London residence.
This detail-driven project was guided by the client’s vision to blend new materials with the character of a heritage London home.
Taj Mahal quartzite was chosen for the kitchen. Its soft tone and understated elegance suited the space perfectly, with a subtle book-matched splashback adding depth without overpowering the design.
The real focus was the fireplace. Set in a grand room with high ceilings, ornate coving and detailed architraves, it needed to hold presence. We had several design meetings with the client to work through the proportions and refine the overall look.
A Calacatta marble slab with strong gold veining was selected. The material was cut from 20mm material, and with careful planning, we achieved a continuous vein flow running diagonally from bottom left to top right. This gave the fireplace the appearance of being carved from a single piece of stone.
We particularly loved getting involved in the fireplace design on this project, creating detailed profiling which had to remain in-keeping with London’s historic architecture.
